The key factor of the new design of chisels was ergonomics. The front of the handle is knurled and provides a better support for the thumb. This has a positive influence on the overall control over the power and direction of the cut. The detail of knurling and the characteristic shape of the handle are the basic elements of a common design language. The new construction results in a longer tool life. The handle is protected by an end cap (made of steel or tough plastic) which prevents it from being damaged or split, especially when working harder with a mallet.
