The drawknife is a challenge from an ergonomic point of view. With this simple tool, you work with great strength, so a good grip is really important. In the new design, the blade has been fundamentally changed. It is not die forged as usual, but it is cut out and bent into the final shape – this simplifies and cheapens the manufacturing. Moreover, the new construction of the blade is flexible and absorbs possible impact (on knots).

An important element is also the handle. Thanks to the correct angle to the blade, the overall control over the cut was significantly improved. The shape of the handle supports the hypothenar area of the hand and reduces the fatigue from long or demanding work. The support for the thumbs in the front part has also improved the sensitivity and control over the tool.

Nowadays, the drawknife is quite a neglected tool. Vintage pieces often surpass the current production – both in their quality and aesthetics.
